Cannock Chase Council has launched new campaign to promote microchipping and reduce dog fouling.  The ‘Chip and Bin’ campaign aims to encourage responsible dog ownership in the District.

Every year the Council receives over 100 complaints about dog fouling in Cannock Chase.  Irresponsible dog owners who allow their dog to foul without picking it up could face a fixed penalty notice of £75.  There is currently a consultation on the proposed Public Space Protection Order (Dog Control) 2017, which if approved by the Council will see the fixed penalty notice increase to £100.

Travellers on Barnard Way/Heath Hayes Park

Cannock Chase Council can confirm that action has been taken to initiate legal proceedings to remove the travellers from Barnard Way Play Area and Heath Hayes Park.

Travellers were reported on Barnard Way on Monday 10 July and this morning Walsall County Court have issued the claim for possession. The hearing date for this is set for 10:00am on Thursday 20 July.   The court papers will be served on the travellers tomorrow morning.

Travellers were also reported on Heath Hayes Park on Tuesday 11 July, and are believed to be a separate group to those on Barnard Way.

Cannock Chase Crack Down on Loan Sharks with New Campaign

The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) are working in partnership with Cannock Chase Council and Staffordshire Police to launch a ‘Bite Back’ campaign to crack down on loan sharks in the District.

The week-long campaign runs from today (July 10) to Friday (July 14) and will warn residents about the dangers of borrowing from illegal money lenders. The purpose of the ‘Bite Back’ week will be to steer people away from using the illegitimate services of a loan shark and instead, signpost them to their local credit union as a safe alternative when borrowing money.  

Council Leaders pay tribute to Hednesford Councillor

Cannock Chase Council has been left shocked following the sudden death of Councillor Graham Burnett, aged 59.

Graham Burnett who had served as a Conservative Councillor for Hednesford Green Heath Ward for 7 years and was recently elected as a County Councillor for Hednesford and Rawnsley in the May elections, sadly passed away on Thursday 29 June.

Graham was Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Housing Shadow Portfolio Leader and held seats on a number of committees at Cannock Chase Council.

Festival fun in Hednesford this summer

Hednesford will be celebrating this summer with its annual festival for the whole community.

Hednesford Festival is taking place on Saturday 12 August between 12 noon and 6pm in Hednesford Park and Town Centre. The artisan market will be in the town centre from 9am.

Fund to unlock stalled housing sites supports plans to build new homes in the District

Cannock Chase Council has been successful in securing £585,000 investment from the Unlocking Stalled Housing Sites Programme to support the delivery of new homes across the area.

The Council is committed to the scheme and will build 39 affordable homes for rent across 11 sites in the District .Five sites are currently underway and the remaining six sites have recently obtained planning permission. The scheme is due to be completed by September 2018.

New research indicates that people in the West Midlands could be putting themselves and their families at risk of food poisoning through lack of knowledge of the 4Cs of food hygiene: Chilling, Cooking, Cleaning and cross-contamination.

The Food Standards Agency’s Food and You Survey, which collects information on food safety through 3,118 interviews across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, found that in the West Midlands:
