Each year Cannock Chase Council recognises the achievements of young people within the District by awarding the Youth Endeavour Award.  This award provides an opportunity to recognise and reward some of the positive achievements and contributions that are made by our young people.  

This year's award was presented to Jack Gilbert from Kingsmead School, who was nominated by Miss Hinton, Year 10 Progress Leader at Kingsmead School.

Rats and filth cost takeaway trading during Covid over £34k

A Cannock based food business trading as Mr Kay’s, and its Director Mr Raja Kamran Hussain have been ordered to pay £34,603 in fines and costs following a successful prosecution by Cannock Chase Council.

Mr. Hussain previously appeared at Cannock Magistrate’s Court on 6 February 2023 and both he and his company pleaded guilty to five offences under the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013, including failing to prevent access by pests to the premises.

New life skills support for Cannock Chase residents

A new programme called Cannock Chase Discovery has been launched to help residents access tailored support to improve their general and life skills leading to better employment opportunities. The programme offers a range of interventions across four broad categories: work, skills, health, and life. It is being delivered by Jobs 22 on behalf of Cannock Chase Council and funded by the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

The programme began on 1 May 2024 and will run until 31 March 2025.

Postal votes for the local elections, which take place on Thursday 2 May are currently being sent out to eligible residents.

When your postal vote arrives, look out for the two ballot papers to complete: the green one is for the Cannock Chase Council elections and the yellow one is for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner elections.

Visit to former Rugeley Power Station site provides helpful update for the Council

Cannock Chase Council’s Leader and Deputy Leader have paid a visit to the former Rugeley Power Station site owned by Engie, to get an update on its redevelopment. The power station ceased to operate in June 2016.

In June 2021 the power station’s four iconic cooling towers were blown down as part of the clearance of the site, which had seen six other blowdown demolitions take place in the months before.
