What is Pride in Place?

In April 2026, the Chadsmoor area was awarded £20million over the next ten years as part of the national Pride in Place Programme. This is a community led initiative with Cannock Chase District Council as the accountable body.  Pride in Place supports communities in making positive and long lasting change for their area.

The Chadsmoor Area

Everything inside of the red line on the map below is included in the allocation.  One of the decisions that needs to be made by the end of August 2026 is whether a request should be made by the local MP to increase the boundary.  We'll be asking people living and working in Chadsmoor what they think about the boundary to make sure that the views of the community are known.
 

Who decides how the money is spent?

Local knowledge, needs and priorities will shape a programme of investment for Chadsmoor  which will be created and agreed by a new Neighbourhood Board.  An independent chair will lead the Board which will have members including the local MP and local ward member(s) but also people who live or work in Chadsmoor .

Who can be involved in the Board?

These are voluntary roles, similar to those of a charity trustee or school governor. The Chair of the Board should be an independent person as this is not a political appointment.  Ideally the Chairperson will have a deep connection to Chadsmoor , understand the community and be able to provide collaborative community led leadership and act as a champion of community involvement and strong governance and accountability.

For the wider Board, we're looking to appoint around eight members, including the MP, Josh Newbury and one or more ward Councillors.  More than half of the Board should live or work within the Chadsmoor area.
