Cannock Chase Council has launched a new look website, redesigned to be easier and quicker for residents to use.

The redesign follows on from a consultation in January this year; which showed that the majority of respondents would like better navigation, to be mobile friendly and have better reporting facilities.

The new site has been built using responsive technology which recognises the type of device a visitor is using and adjusts the display accordingly.  It incorporates easier and quicker navigation and improved access to online services.

Cannock Chase Council supports Stoptober Campaign

Cannock Chase Council is supporting the Stoptober campaign and encouraging local residents to stop smoking.

Stoptober, the 28-day stop smoking challenge from Public Health England is encouraging smokers to swap their fags for gags, to help them quit for good this October.

Contamination causes refuse vehicle fire

A refuse vehicle has caught fire following a resident disposing of a gas camping stove in the blue bin.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue were called to a fire in the back of one of the Council's dry recycling collection vehicles at 7:50am on Friday 18th September in Station Road , Hednesford.

The Fire Officer at the scene believed the fire was caused by contamination in the form of a gas camping stove, that had been disposed of with a partially full gas cylinder still attached.

Council’s Cabinet recommends joining the West Midlands Combined Authority

Cannock Chase Council’s Cabinet has made a recommendation that the Council join the emerging West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) as a non-constituent member.

Cannock Chase Council has been invited to join the proposed West Midlands Combined Authority along with all other District and Borough Councils in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership and the Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (including Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council in Leicestershire).

‘Excellent’ rating for leisure services

A LEISURE centre and sports development team in Cannock has achieved an ‘excellent’ rating in a tough combined assessment by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest.

Quest is the best-known improvement programme within the sport and leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres and sports development teams in the UK.

Chairman’s Bavarian Charity Event

The Chairman of Cannock Chase Council is holding a charity Bavarian Night in aid of her chosen charities.

The Bavarian Night will take place in the Ballroom at the Civic Suite on Friday 9th October at 7:30pm.  The evening will include live entertainment from Kellermeister Oompah Band and a hog roast.  Tickets cost £15 and are available by calling The Executive Support Team on 01543 464553.

All monies raised from the event will go to the Chairman's chosen charities - The Teenage Cancer Trust and 5th St. Luke's Brownies.

The Good Junior Citizen Award is launched for young people in the District.

The Good Junior Citizen Award is open to pupils in years 5 and 6, who have made a positive contribution to the local community and/or the quality of the local environment. 

Nominations can be made by anyone in the District, as long as they are not related to the young person and can be for an individual or a group or class.

The Council is looking to appoint local people to serve on the Independent Remuneration Panel to assist in reviewing its Members’ Allowances Scheme.

The Panel considers and makes recommendations relating to the allowances paid to elected Councillors, together with recommendations about the roles and responsibilities for which allowances should be payable.
