Helpful information for our blind or partially sighted residents
Please share the below information with anyone you think would benefit from it.
Have you noticed a 'notch' on your bin? This is to help our blind or partially sighted residents identify which bin is which to dispose of their waste correctly.
With advice from the Royal National Institute for the Blind, any new green, brown or blue standard sized bins (240 litre) that are issued will have notches on the lid.
As you face your bin:

The Green Bin will have a notch on both the left and right side of the front of the lid.

The Brown Bin will have a notch on the left hand side of the front of the lid

The Blue Bin will have a notch on the right hand side of the front of the lid
Struggling to present your bin on collection day?
Please follow the link below to sign up to our Assisted Collection Service. This service is for people who are unable to present their bins, blue bags or food waste caddies out for collection due to being elderly, infirm or experiencing mobility issues and there is no other able-bodied person aged over 16 years permanently residing at the property.
How it works...
On your scheduled collection day, the relevant bin(s), bags and food waste caddy will be collected from an accessible and visible point on your property, emptied and returned to the same location.
Once you have signed up to the service a representative from our contractors, Biffa, will contact you so they can do a site assessment to make sure the location is safe for their crew to collect the bin from. Biffa will then confirm when the service is in place.
