Cannock Chase Council provides MOT services for the public.
As we don’t carry out repairs you can always trust our friendly, knowledgeable and reliable staff to offer the best advice and guidance.
We are a Class 4 MOT Station (cars/car derived vans)
Drop and Go service - vehicles can be left during the day and collected up until 5pm the same day.
Chip and Pin and Contactless payments taken.
Extra time allowed for sanitising of vehicles and keys to protect our customers and staff.
Staggered appointments means there will only be one person in our waiting room at any one time.
Tests between 8am till 4pm Monday to Friday subject to availability.

MOT Booking Aide Memoire
All customers are to be asked / informed of the following when booking an MOT test:
- Have customers had any Covid19 symptoms in the last 14 days?
- Has anyone that the customer has come into contact with over the last 14 days had any Covid19 symptoms (family or friends)?
- Has the customer been contacted by the governments track and trace scheme in the last 14 days?
- If the customer has had or does have any symptoms we can not / will carry out their MOT test.
- Customers will be asked for their full name, a contact telephone number and the vehicle registration to be tested.
- We ask customers to open the windows of their car on their journey to the MOT test station if possible to allow good ventilation to take place.
- Customers are asked to say in their car until they are approached by a member of the vehicle workshop staff.
- Customers will again be asked Covid19 related question upon arrival at the test centre.
- Customers will then be asked to remain only within the MOT waiting area.
- MOT testers will wear clean gloves for every test.
- Main touch points including, handles, steering wheels, gear sticks, keys etc. will be sanitised.
- We encourage customers to pay using a Contactless or Chip and Pin credit or debit card but we will still take cash or cheques if the customer would prefer.
- We will not automatically issue a traditional MOT certificate unless asked to do so but instead point customers to where they can download it from the GOV.UK website.
The vehicles main touch points and keys will be sanitised by the MOT tester before being returned to the customer.
- TAXI Testing - COVID Procedures

All Taxi Drivers are to be asked / informed of the following when booking an MOT test:
- Have Taxi drivers had any Covid19 symptoms in the last 14 days?
- Has anyone that the Taxi driver has come into contact with over the last 14 days had any Covid19 symptoms (family / friends / passengers)?
- Has the Taxi driver been contacted be the governments track and trace scheme in the last 14 days?
- If the Taxi driver has had or does have any symptoms we can / will not carry out their Taxi / MOT test.
- Taxi drivers must not arrive any more than 5 minutes before their appointment.
- Taxis must be in pristine condition when presented for test.
- All none professionally fitted screens most be removed before the taxi is bought to the test station (this CANNOT be done at the test station).
- First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers must be in date and presented on the front passenger seat for test.
- We ask Taxi drivers to open the windows of their car on their journey to the TAXI / MOT test station if possible to allow good ventilation to take place.
- Taxi drivers are asked to say in their car until they are approached by a member of the vehicle workshop staff.
- Taxi drivers will again be asked Covid19 related question upon arrival at the test centre.
- Taxi drivers will then be asked to remain only in the MOT waiting area.
- Main touch points including; handles, steering wheels, gear sticks, keys etc. will be sanitised.
- MOT testers will wear clean gloves for every test.
- All payments will now be taken up front by the Council’s Licensing section.
- We will not automatically issue a traditional MOT certificate unless asked to do so but instead point Taxi drivers to where they can download it from the GOV.UK website.
- The vehicles main touch points and keys will be sanitised by the MOT tester before being returned to the Taxi driver.
