Mental health support in Cannock Chase

Mental health

It's time to change the way we think and act about mental health...

Time to Change was a social movement to change the way people think and act about mental health problems. Still, too many people are made to feel ashamed or isolated because they have a mental health problem.

Time to Change closed on 31 March 2021, however the stigma and discrimination still exist. For people with mental health problems, they take away the opportunity to live life to the full. Stigma negatively affects relationships, work, education and the chance to live a normal life. Something that others often take for granted.

There's still work to do to end stigma and discrimination. We've vowed to continue Time to Change's work, and with your help, we aim to end stigma and discrimination against those of us with mental health problems.

The Council continues to support this initiative and other national campaigns to help its employees and local community improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing. The Cannock Chase Mental Health Hub supports this.

Mental Health of tenants in rented Multi-Occupied Houses

The number of houses in multiple occupation within the UK has increased significantly in recent years. Research demonstrates a link between housing and mental health, substance/drug/alcohol abuse, and that tenants of houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) are at greater risk of suffering from these complex conditions. In addition, poor mental health can make it harder to cope with housing issues. In addition, being homeless or experiencing problems where you live can sometimes make your mental health worse.

If you are experiencing problems with your accommodation, there are Organizations that can provide advice and support:
