Tenants Contents Insurance

Home Contents Insurance

Cannock Chase Council insure the structure of your home, but our cover doesn’t include what’s inside it (your furniture and your personal belongings).
If you have to replace the contents of your home, it could prove very expensive. We therefore strongly recommend that you get your personal belongings insured against events including:

•    Accidental damage
•    Fire
•    Theft
•    Flooding/escape of water

You may wish to consider making use of consumer advice and comparison websites available to help give you advice and prices. Some tips on getting the right and most cost effective home contents insurance are available at the below websites:

For tenants who have a policy that was provided through the Council’s previous arrangement with Aviva Insurance, please note that your policy remains valid and the insurance company will normally write to you to offer a renewal deal under your policy, near to the time of renewal.
You can choose to accept this or seek other insurance elsewhere. Our letter in February 2025 incorrectly stated they would offer a ‘new policy’ which is not correct. We apologise for this misunderstanding.

Please note: The Council does not endorse or recommend any insurance products, websites or comparison sites in particular and can not advise you further on the right home insurance choices for you and your home.
